Description:

Vintage 'Gold Panda' Seiko 6138-8020, May 1977. The stunning black dial is in almost perfect condition, as are the white sweep and sub-handles, indices, and the Seiko applied logo. A neat element of this setup is that Friday is red in Arabic while Sunday is English. The day and date are displayed at three o'clock with Arabic and English lettering. In honor of its silver/grey sub dialed relative, this reference is frequently referred to as the "Gold Panda." It's interesting to note that the 6138 movement truly succeeded the 6139, which is now regarded as the first automatic chronograph to be introduced to the market in 1969. Up until about 1978, watches with both movements were manufactured concurrently until they were both withdrawn. The 6138 have the advantage of, in contrast to their 6139 cousins that they can be hand-wound.

Excellent condition original SEIKO Suwa 21 J 6138B with 21,600 beats per hour. Quickset functions properly, and the day and date change at midnight. Date/Day at 3 p.m. day in Arabic and English, with the traditional Sunday in red (Friday in Arabic). turned the crown to position 2 to operate.

A notable feature of the Seiko Panda GP 6138-8020 is its automated chronograph movement, which was a component of Seiko's groundbreaking work in the 1970s. It has a stunning panda dial with contrasting black sub-dials, a design that has become legendary among chronograph watches, and is powered by the Seiko 6138 caliber. This model is noteworthy for Seiko's contribution to the introduction of reliable, reasonably priced automatic chronographs, which outperformed the manual models of the time. It features the brand's technological and design advancements and is a part of Seiko's Grand Prix line. Because of its historical significance and distinctive style, it is now a highly valued vintage item.

Note: Watch will come with both Golden Chain and Black Nato Strap
