The Seiko Quartz QZ A 0922-5010, with its distinctive features such as Snowflake dial and silver steel Case the date display at 3 o'clock, Stick hands, Numeral indices, and a beautiful black strap, belongs to a lineage of Seiko quartz watches that were categorized into SQ, QT, QR, and QZ models. This system was established to distinguish these watches based on their quality and specifications. They were predominantly designed for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) and were manufactured between 1971 and 1975. Export models were labeled differently, including SQ 3003 (QT), SQ 2002 (QR), and SQ 4004 (QZ).
The evolution of these designations continued with the introduction of the QZ descendant in 1975, marked by the 09 series, featuring a 15/20spm specification. While it may not have been the case that all these designations existed simultaneously, it's evident that certain SQ models offered superior quality and commanded a higher price than both the QT and QR variants. Even the most affordable QR model was more expensive than the QZ when it was initially introduced. It's important to note that this comparison is made between 1971 and 1975, a period marked by significant price reductions for quartz watches. At its peak, the QZ, for instance, was priced close to 1000 Euros in 1971.
