This elegant timepiece is a stunning example of Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) dress watch quality from the mid-1970s. The Lord Matic (LM) line was highly prestigious, positioned just below the King Seiko, and renowned for its thin, refined, automatic movements. This model, reference 5606-5340, is defined by its striking gold-toned case and a beautiful deep green sunburst dial, which catches the light dramatically. The watch is powered by the excellent Seiko Caliber 5606, an in-house automatic movement which operates at a smooth $21,600 \text{ VPH}$ and is highly respected for its slim profile.
The 5606 is a feature-rich movement, including both hand-winding capability and hacking seconds (where the second hand stops when setting the time), which were premium features in its day. The dial design is bold, utilizing chunky, applied gold baton indices and a Day/Date display at 3 o'clock, with the characteristic "LM" logo at 6 o'clock. The case back reveals the serial number 421153, indicating a production date of February 1974. This piece is an outstanding acquisition for a collector who appreciates discreet luxury, high-quality mechanical movements, and bold 1970s JDM aesthetics.
