Description:

After World War II, the demand for wristwatches surged, but domestic models were initially seen as inferior to overseas products. However, Seiko's "Super" model defied these perceptions, matching the quality of international brands and significantly influencing the future of Japanese watchmaking. The model highlighted here is a later version of the hand-wound, 15-jewel "Super" with a 33.5mm case, typical of the 1950s.

Its design features "fancy lugs," which add a dressy touch to the simple round case. The dial, originally silver, has aged to a vintage beige, complementing the gold indexes and enhancing its classic appeal. The embossed "S" above the Seiko logo adds a touch of luxury. Notably, this 15-jewel model was the first Seiko watch to include an anti-seismic device, a feature that was uncommon at the time but became widely adopted by other manufacturers, showcasing the movement's excellence. This watch is a testament to Seiko's rich history and innovation in watchmaking.
