Seiko Automatic - Captain Willard Diver - 6105-8110

The Seiko 6105 marked the brand’s second true dive watch, known for its distinctive cushion-shaped, asymmetric case, a design engineered for durability and function. Featuring a recessed signed crown at the 4 o’clock position, the 6105 gained popularity among American servicemen during the Vietnam War and later became iconic when Martin Sheen wore it as Captain Willard in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now. In Japan, it's affectionately called the "Uemura", in tribute to explorer Naomi Uemura, who wore it on his 18-month dog sled journey from Alaska to Greenland.

The Seiko 6105-8110 stands apart with its 44mm asymmetrical case that wears comfortably thanks to its 47mm lug-to-lug length and ergonomic cushion profile. The case is made of three parts: a solid screw-down case back, a robust mid-case, and a bidirectional 60-click bezel with an aluminum insert.

The matte black dial is clean and well-balanced, with an applied Seiko logo at 12, “Automatic” beneath it, and water resistance text just above 6 o’clock. The hour markers include applied squares, bold rectangles at 6 and 9, and a double marker at 12, giving the dial strong visual depth.

This piece is the "Resist" variant, introduced in 1970 after Seiko transitioned from "Water 150m Proof" to "Water 150m Resist" on the dial, and from "Waterproof" to "Water Resistant" on the case back, aligning with updated ISO regulations before the January 1972 deadline.

As for condition, it’s truly exceptional. This unused example still retains its original case back sticker and comes with the original Tire Tread XGL-731 strap. Box not included.
